We Just Wanted Somewhere for It to Happen
Boardies is a community on a terrace in HSR Layout. It started with 200+ games on a shelf and turned into open mics, pickleball, workshops and parties — everything we could talk enough people into showing up for.
It started with not enough people to play with
Anyone who has bought a heavy euro game in Bengaluru knows the problem: the box is gorgeous, the rulebook is 24 pages, and you cannot get four adults in one room on a weeknight. Boardies exists so that the table is already set and the people are already there.
Then it stopped being only about games
The same problem turned out to apply to everything else. People who wanted to play pickleball but had no fourth. People who had written six minutes of standup and nowhere to try it. People who kept meaning to learn pottery. So we started hosting those too, on the same terrace, for the same reason — the hard part was never the activity, it was assembling the room.
Nobody has to already know how
Every session has someone who can teach. You don't need to have read the rules, own a racquet, or have made anything with your hands before. You don't need a group either. Turn up alone on a Wednesday and you'll be in the middle of something within fifteen minutes.
And some nights, the terrace is yours
Birthdays, offsites, house parties, a launch that needed a roof. We hand the space over and build the evening around whatever you're actually celebrating — which is how a lot of people meet us before they ever come to a game night.
What We Do
More Than a Shelf of Games
We host the thing, whatever the thing is. Games, sport, music, making something with your hands, or your own party — the terrace changes shape around it.
Game Nights
Open tables every Wed & Sat, 200+ games, and volunteers who'll teach you any of them.
Sports & Outdoors
Pickleball, football, badminton, treks and cycling runs — turn up without a team.
Open Mics & Live Sets
Open mics, jams, standup, poetry and screenings under an open sky.
Art & Craft Workshops
Painting, pottery, candles and lettering — small groups, materials included.
House Parties & Birthdays
Book the terrace for a birthday or a party and we'll set the room around it.
Offsites & Team Days
Curated offsites for 10–50 people — games, sport and workshops, not trust falls.
How It Works
Pick a night
Check what's on, or just walk in on a game night. No membership required to start.
Come as you are
No group, no gear, no idea what you're doing — all fine. Turning up alone is the normal way to arrive here.
Someone gets you started
A volunteer teaches the game, runs the drill or hands you the brush. Five minutes and you're in it.
Stay for the people
Food, coffee and a terrace worth lingering on. Most people came for the activity and come back for the table.
